About Me

Just the facts…..

  • I am a full-time SAHM Mom.
  • I’m married to a wonderful, supportive man.  We’ve been married for almost eight years.
  • I have one son (Tornado Boy) who is currently 4 years old.
  • I am 41 and lovin’ it.
  • I am a computer geek – previously by trade, and now by interest.
  • I love to travel.
  • I love Disney World.
  • I am currently pet free after 16 years with cats.
  • I am a photography enthusiast.  I have a Canon 50D, but rather than drag it around, I often take pictures with my cheapie point and shoot or my cell phone.
  • I have done a lot of scrapbooking in the past – first paper, then digital.  I haven’t been very inspired of late, but my supplies are getting a second life in the form of lapbooks.
  • I am “testing out” our ability to homeschool by working with my son now before he’s required to go to school.  I’m hoping that we like it and that I’m patient enough to pull it off.
  • Why Homeschool?  Mostly because our son started reading just before he turned 3 AND he’s very hyper.  Not a great combination for the classroom.  He loves to learn and I’d hate to see that diminished by behavioral issues, so I’m working on using his energy for our learning.  He isn’t forced to sit at a desk all day at home.
  • Am I worried about  the “socialization” issue?  Not really.  Tornado Boy is very extroverted and friendly.  We have lots of support groups and social opportunities in our community.  We’ll be fine.
  • Am I qualified to teach?  Not certified, but I am educated and a life-long learner.  So far we’ve been very successful in the things that we’ve tackled (sign language as a baby, reading, etc.)  Tornado Boy is a quick learner and if I don’t know something, I’ll work to figure it out along with him.
  • Favorite aspect of Homeschooling so far – being able to really pursue in depth whatever, wherever we want.

Basically I am a woman trying to be the best mother, daughter, wife, teacher and person that I can be.
