[...] Fast forward to one seriously cool birthday gift and we’ve jump-started our state study this week. This Melissa and Doug License Plate Game is such a great learning tool AND you can’t drop any of the pieces, they stay attached to the board. The board has a map as the base, and then example license plates that rotate on top. When you see a car with the license plate, you flip that piece and that state and capital are listed on the reverse side. It is a brilliant car game. We were so excited to be able to add this to our travel kit. [...]

I really enjoyed reading your review! You made a good point about being reliant on DVDs and such..and did a wonderful job creating an "everyday" basket for car rides. I'm sure TB will enjoy riding in the car very much with all of those goodies! Great job on your review:)

Very nice review! It made me think that maybe we should also expand our car options for Anna. Today it's essentially talking, listening to music or reading books. I wonder what TB will choose to play with first.

Rodna - there are zippered pockets in the lap desk. It's an Alex brand desk. I got it locally, but they also sell it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GCNDOM?ie=UTF8&tag=onelitroo-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000GCNDOM
It's the perfect size for a young child, not too big.

Hey! Where did you find that lap desk? I was going to get one for each of my children from Mardel, but when we went there they were out of the ones we wanted. I still plan on getting them one when they come back in, but I may want to check out the one you got. It looks as if it has a zipper to hold stuff in, is that right?
