We Play – BIG Games!

We Play

We’ve been playing Tic-Tac-Toe for quite some time. I’ve found that it’s a great introductory strategy game that can teach your child to be aware of both the “offense” and “defense” sides to games. I like playing it outside on our driveway with chalk. Don’t get stuck just using X’s and O’s. This is a great opportunity to have your child practice any letters or numbers that they are working on. In this game we were using 9′s and 10′s.

We had a lot of fun at a museum this week getting to play a super-sized version of Tic-Tac-Toe using ocean animals – crabs and starfish. We also were able to use a huge Connect 4 board – similar in concept to Tic-Tac-Toe, but you have to get 4 in a row and have more territory to defend. Fun Stuff!!

Connect 4 is the game of moment at our house. My 4 y.o. son is working hard at keeping in mind both offense and defence as we play and getting pretty good.
I love the huge versions, a fun change from the regular size.

Big games are fun, actually almost anything that is oversized is fun. I really need to work on being more intentional in playing games with my kids.

I love super-sized games! We went to a maze park once just to play the super-sized games (although Dadda still couldn’t get me to try chess!). You’ve inspired me to make a date to get back there once the weather improves! :)

We’ve been using connect 4 to work on my girls turn taking and waiting skills. Heidi still thinks the most fun to be had is from emptying out the playing board. :D

  9. What fantastic giant games and I love your outdoor larger than life tic tac toe, very special.
