Keeping His Place
One of our biggest challenges with reading lately has been trying to keep wiggly boy on track. He did pretty well keeping his place when there were only a few words on the page. Now that we’re reading chapter books with far more text and fewer pictures; Tornado Boy has been getting somewhat frustrated. I’d been trying to get him to use his finger to keep his place, but he still would sometime miss lines of text and then get confused. I remember reading about using a bookmark to keep your place on the page and figured that it was worth a try. It has been very helpful. Tornado Boy is definitely gaining a bigger sense of independence while using the bookmark. He’s still very wiggly, but this really is a step in the right direction.
Wow – I am very impressed with what kind of books Tornado Boy is reading. I think bookmark place holder is a great idea!
